This video clip (click here: Pray for Japan) highlights the amazing compassion and discipline of the Japanese people. Through all the devastation, there is no looting, no rioting, no hoarding, but rather polite line-forming, sharing, dedication to duty, and painstaking honesty. As we pray for this remarkable little country to get back on its feet, we might also pray that more Americans may become more like them.

I have no problem in praying for the Japanese in this terrible tragedy. But the culture and traditions that help them maintain order during these times has a sinister side. The Japanese committed many unspeakable artrocities against their neighbors and American troops by blindly following orders under their culture of strict obedience. If the same sort of leadership came back into power - such things could happen again.
No, give me our unruly, rebellious and always questioning ways. It might be messy, but always with a rudder to steer to the right course.
